Judge rules DOGE likely subject to FOIA, must give CREW documents
In an opinion issued Monday night, United States District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the US DOGE Service is likely subject to FOIA and issued a preliminary injunction requiring the preservation of documents and expedited processing of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington’s FOIA requests with DOGE. CREW Executive Director and Chief Counsel Donald Sherman issued the following statement:
“We’re grateful for Judge Cooper’s decision. Now more than ever, Americans deserve transparency in their government. Despite efforts and claims to the contrary, the government cannot hide the actions of the US DOGE Service. We look forward to the expedited processing of our requests and making all the DOGE documents public.”
