CREW APPLAUDS AMENDED WHITE HOUSE RESTRICTIONS ON LOBBYIST COMMUNICATIONS

White House side view

24 Jul 2009 // Washington, D.C. - CREW is pleased the administration has amended its restrictions on lobbying for Recovery Act funds to take a more common sense approach. It is just good policy that once an application for a competitive loan or grant has been filed, no one – registered lobbyist or not – can lobby the government official responsible for handing out the taxpayer funds. At the same time, the White House has recognized banning all lobbyists from talking to any officials regarding Recovery Act funds prevents the government from getting the information necessary to ensure our money is being well spent. While the original rules were based on good intentions, the revised rules are based on smart policy.
