25 Jun 2009 // Washington, D.C. - CREW has filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with three Department of Justice components – the Civil Division, the Office of Information Policy, and the Executive Office for United States Attorneys – for documents reflecting the government’s decision to disclose material in litigation that was previously withheld under the FOIA as exempt. CREW is seeking to learn the extent to which agencies are complying with Attorney General Holder’s March 19, 2009 FOIA guidance, which directs DOJ in pending litigation to apply the guidance where it would result in additional disclosures.
