Capitol at night

23 Jun 2009 // Washington, D.C. - Yesterday, CREW joined 22 organizations in calling on the leaders of the Congressional Armed Services and Judiciary Committees to hold full, public hearings on any legislation that would revise the Military Commissions Act and lay out new detention authorities and procedures. Holding such hearings would shine a light on the complex legal situation surrounding the closing of the Guantanamo Bay facility and would confirm CREW’s and the co-signing organizations’ belief that no legislative revisions to the 2006 Military Commissions Act are necessary.
